Mail!

I received my 3-day "welcome" mail yesterday.  It included a "bib" to hang in my office or to pin on my shirt while training to "get the conversation started."  I'm not sure I'm comfortable with wearing it.  I wear a 3-day shirt while training.  It's funny ... I don't get many comments when I do.  It's YOU, who read my blog, or read my Facebook page, or who see me every day, who "get it started!"  I'm probably not great at fund raising!
There is an application for the Pink Ribbon Visa Signature card in the mail, too. Now THIS I might apply for! When I use the card I will raise awareness and show support. A $25 donation will be made to Komen after qualifying transactions. And ... there are POINTS ... and I can donate them to Komen and do even more to help fund the search for the cures!
There's also a card from New Balance (my shoe of choice New Balance hosts the official Training Program of the Komen 3-Day for the Cure. Yup! I'll be taking advantage of the 10% off my entire order. I need new size 8s!
So the mail was good yesterday.
Mail like this reminds me that I'M ON MY WAY TO ANOTHER 60 MILES!
You gotta love it!

a quarter mil

Back in December, my training friends and I (that's Burt's Babes) had a reunion in the City. We decided to tally the money we've raised collectively in all the walks we have finished. We came up with a total of approximately $250,000.  Not too shabby, eh?  For some this was their first 60 mile walk.  Some have been walking for many years.  Burt ... our wonderful leader ... walks 2 3-days each year.  That's a total of 120 miles!  He has many generous supporters and has raised thousands of dollars in memory of his cousin.  He's quite an amazing fellow.
...
Some friends have made a decision to join me in Atlanta.  'Chelle will be traveling to the east coast from California to crew.  Beth and Faye registered today and will be representing New Jersey.  There are a few others thinking about it ...
Have to start thinking of a team name.

An October day in Atlanta

Somebody (no names mentioned!) wondered about the weather in Atlanta in October.  I did some quick research and came up with the following:

October--73.0 °F high 53.0 °F low

That sounds like very nice walking and/or crewing weather to me.
What do you think?

My friend Jody's mom died this morning.
She had breast cancer.
She is one of approximately 112 women who succumbed to breast cancer today.
I will walk for Laura.

Alumni!

Here's something new y'all.
I am a Susan G. Komen 3-day for the Cure ALUMNI!
Well ... it's not really new.
I have been walking for Susan G. Komen for the Cure for some time ...
it's just a lovely new badge for me to display.
...
So ... yes ... I signed up for another 60 miles.
Beth said "Hey ... let's go to Atlanta." and I said "OK" and now I'm waiting for Beth to sign up, too!
I would have taken my first walk in 2011 with Joan, but I'm waiting for the cable guy to show up!  Maybe later.
...
Thank you for finding me again.
I'll do my best to keep you entertained!
