Elaine

Just heard that Elaine Shapiro (one of my new training walk buddies) is undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia.
That's Elaine on the far left.
My next walk is for you, my friend.
I'm praying for you!

Raining on my (polka dot) parade!

It's raining.
I am staying in and reading "The Help" which I highly recommend!
So we'll call this a rest day ... as the rest of the week will be rest days!
I'll catch up on the mileage next weekend.
...
That picture yesterday was pretty awful!
Just sayin'!

Polka dots part 2--5.8 miles

Well ... this is a pretty horrifying picture ... but I did it for you Sarge! (I must really like you!)  No ... I did NOT walk in my polka dot pajamas.  I pulled them on over my walking shorts after my walk through Sands Point this morning.  It's a gorgeous day here on the Island.  Walked 5.8 miles.

Sunday on Thursday--7.3 miles

I haven't posted in a while ... but I did walk with Joan Sunday.  I dropped her off and finished my usual 7.3 Sunday walk.
If you look back at pictures taken from this spot, you can see how Port Washington has blossomed!  This is my favorite place. (But I think you know that!)
...
So Karen (Skeezy's mom) was here just over a week ago.  We have been talking about walking together in November in San Diego ...
Then we talked about my changing to the event in San Francisco.  I don't know if I'm going to change yet ... still thinking about it.
Regardless of WHERE we walk ... how much fun will those 60 miles be?

Sunday softball--6.1 miles

Had to put this picture up today.
It's a girls' softball game that was just starting as I walked past the little league baseball field.
I love it!
Today was warm and a perfect walking day.
We will be having a visitor Wednesday ... and I think I will be making an announcement.
I'm so excited.

Back to work ... back to walk--5.8 miles

I know it sounds like an excuse ... but I just can't get out to walk when I get back to work!  So I'll have to wait for days off and weekends.
It was cold enough to wear a jacket this morning ...
but it is also sunny enough to need sunglasses!  I'll take that!
...
I had lots of time for thinking while walking this morning.  I thought a whole lot about you, Bee and Charlie ... and how tough a year this has been for you.  I know Chuck will pull through because you have the faith and the love ... and he has the strength.  I prayed for you all ... and want you to know how much I love you.
Today ... my walk was for you!!!
Now please get him some Starbucks!

Resting my "dogs"

It was such a beautiful day today ...
but a dentist appointment ... followed by more torture at the periodontist helped me decide to rest!
Back to school tomorrow.

Not whining ... 4.5 miles

Here we are ... Joan and Roberta ... Sunday morning walkers.
Only problem is ... I decided not to finish the walk because I had a blister that was bothering me!
Does that count as "whining?"

Training walk in NYC--11 miles (give or take!)

Here we are on today's training walk in NYC.
Went uptown along the river this time.
It was a glorious day!
Here I am in front of the Circle Line.
And here I am with Burt, our fearless leader.
We couldn't resist a shot in front of a port-o-potty ... a walker's friend!
...
It was a great day spent with wonderful new friends.  I'm looking forward to our next training walk here on Long Island.

Friday--6.3 miles

The weather is perfect for walking.
Did a quick 6.3 miles (with a few stops) before a day of total beauty!!!!
I'm having a great vacation!
I could get used to this!

No foolin' around--5.8 miles

I'm finally taking advantage of my Spring Break and training.
Being on my feet for two nights straight ... cooking, serving, cleaning and CLEANING after two seders ... I gave my "dogs" a chance to settle down yesterday.  But, today I walked through Sands Point ... one of my favorite routes.  My new shoes are officially "broken in"  just in time for another pair of size 8s to arrive in the mail today.  I will look especially stylish in NYC when I meet my training crew again this Saturday.
...
I love what Michelle is doing!
She's keeping track of her mileage with each post.
I'm going to have to clock my miles this afternoon and start doing the same.
(click on the link to see her beautiful blog.)
...
Thank you Bee and Charlie and Michelle, for following me.
If you're reading this ... please leave a comment.
It's good to know that you're along for the walk!
