Memorial Day-9.2 miles

I thought of Sarge and Sollie throughout my walk today.

I thank you for your service to our country...

... and I remember those who gave their lives.
...
I took the longer route through Sands Point today.
Do you remember this old friend?

I was happy to see her/him (what do I know about cows?!)
...
Here's the view from someone's backyard.

No my friends ... it's not the view from my backyard!
It was a beautiful day and a beautiful walk.

Sunday--6.16 miles ... but I could swear it's more!

It's another Sunday walk without Joan.  I did see a few friends on the way, though.
I stopped in the train station to grab a water and say hello to the man at the newstand.  He told me that today is his last day.  Somebody took over the stand and he has lost his job.
He told me his name last year.
I'm sad that I can't remember it.

The swans are back.  This one's mate is off to the right.

I've put up this shot before.  I took it today for Sarge.  I think he likes it.
Auntie Bee ... please tell Sarge I'm sending him my love.

Saturday--7.33 miles

I'm a picture-taking-fiend on my walks.  I had a few shots of pretty flowers I could have chosen.  I'm glad I chose this one.
So I walked through Sands Point, which is a favorite route for me.  The whole village smelled like peat moss!!!  The gardeners were out in force!

This is one of my favorite streets in Sands Point.  I think it's called Plum Beach.  Can't see the houses from the street as they're behind gates.
The street is lined with such lovely trees.
Do you know what they are?
This new friend came running from her house and walked by my side for some time.  I tried to get her to go back.  I guess the Invisible Fence wasn't working!
...
I took the pedometer along for the walk ... what the heck.  I just had to do the math.
7.33 miles.
Bee ... tell Sarge I walked for him today!

Tuesday night--a cuppulla miles

Had to pick the car up from Competition Glass tonight ... so I decided to walk.  After a late night last night and a long day today I was fairly tired.  How do people go to the gym after a long day at work?  I don't know!
Anyway ... I did walk a few miles.  Didn't take the pedometer because I DON'T LIKE IT!
I walked in the opposite direction of my usual route.
The late afternoon sun made the water so beautiful
I'm sending Sarge and Bee lots of love.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day for you ... but I know that you're going to conquer this thing!

Monday--REST

I already said this ... but I'll say it again!
Thanks to you, it looks like I might just reach my goal by my birthday!
I sent out a "fundraising blast" yesterday and the results have started to come in.
...
Watch for something special in the mail Bee.  Should get to you in the next few days.  Hope it makes it to the Funshine State in one piece (or so.)

Sunday walk without Joan--7.5 miles

I know ... I had a peony up already ... but this lady's peonies are so beautiful I had to take a picture.
Speaking of taking pictures ... I had my camera out and took pictures throughout my walk today.  Wanted to take you on my route with me.  When I looked at them I was kinda bored.  Just a lot of road shots!  I will show you this one though...

The ducks and geese are out, and I'm maneuvering through the poop.
Now I just wrote "poop" on a piece of paper and when I turned it around it said "dood" and that should please Thumper ... but if you're dyslexic ... and you reverse your "b"s ... it says "boob" and that should please Sarge.
I'm all about pleasing people!
(I think I'm going to be doing something later to please you, Bee!)
...
Stupid pedometer said "5.63"  So I did the math ... divide by 3 and add to 5.63 ... which gives me a headache and "7.50" which is what I think I walked.  I did google GPS yesterday and I might just make the investment.  The lowest price was about $140.  I told Ronnie he could have it after the walk.
...
I'm not complaining about the gout ... but I'm going to call the doctor and ask for a prescription.  I just didn't want to have to take medication for the rest of my l-i-f-e!  To make matters worse, I have a bunion on that foot.  Man ... it stinks getting old!
...
Before I leave you for today ...
here's a friend I see on this route every time I take it ...

He/she is always tied up at the door, which makes me a little sad.
He/she has a white cat who sometimes sits at the window.
I like this pooch.
...
ps--Joan didn't walk today because her family made her an 80th birthday party last night.
Happy Birthday Joan!

Correction--6.6 miles

Where do I get a GPS?
(And I wonder if I can return the STUPID pedometer!)

converting--7.92 km

No Sarge.  I'm not converting to "Republicman."
I have a new pedometer and I'm converting from km to miles ...
I had to google a km to m calculator.
So this is what I got ...
4.92125
I don't like it.
I'm sure I walked farther than that based on the time I've been out walking (two hours ... and, at 3 miles per hour ... I read that as at least 6 miles.)
duhr.
I'm taking my car out to clock this one.
I also googled GOUT.
Yep ... I've got that.
Ouch!

Sunday's walk--7.3 miles

I just finished my Sunday walk ... part of which is spent with Joan.
She won't be able to walk with me next Sunday because she will be in the City after her 80th birthday party Saturday night.  Joan is such an amazing person ... I have trouble keeping up with her!
On the way, we saw a single gossling and it's family.

More and more babies will be born in the next few weeks ... and you know what that means ...
more and more ...
goose poop!
Walker's beware!
The boats are appearing as the weather gets warmer.
I took this one for you Sarge!

The tide was low ... so it's not as pretty as it can be ... but the flag is always flying.
...
My feet are still a tiny bit sore from yesterday's walk ... but I did ok.
In October, 16 miles won't be much at all.  I have a lot of training to do!

Training walk--16 miles

Today I joined a few of the walkers from "our" training group in NYC.  I put up a picture of this sculpture some time ago.  It's called "Eyes" but we know it's boobies, eh Sarge?
We were on our way to the Brooklyn Bridge ...

... and here we are on the bridge!  I was so excited.  I believe we walked over the Brooklyn Bridge on the 2-day walk I did about 10 years ago.  Auntie Bee, you might remember that Bethanny and Ramona walked over this bridge to get to Alex! They were NOT on the bridge today ... but TONS of others were walking and riding and running from Manhattan to Brooklyn... and back.  I was as much of a tourist as anyone else!
It was a great day.
I walked 16 miles ... and I feel pretty darn good!
Tomorrow is a slightly shorter walk with Joan.

It is so cold.  I'm trying to warm up with hot tea!  The weather is crazy!
...
I walked for you today, Sarge.
Sending you lots of love!

Just got back from a 2 hour walk.  I guess that's about 6 miles for me.  I'll clock it later.
