And the old shoes make their way out to the trash--6 miles

It was sayonara to the old and hello to the new size 8s this morning.  I took the new shoes on my old route and my feet (protected by this walker's best friend ... Glide) feel great!  It was 36 degrees today, a far cry from last weekend's beautiful weather.  I'm looking forward to another wonderful training walk next Saturday in the City.
...
So, I've had this "thing" on my leg for a while.  It started out as a scratch, then turned into a perfect red, round "thing."  It was flat and it didn't hurt ... but it was there.  My internist told me to have it biopsied ... which I didn't do.  Finally, though, I did see a dermatologist who treated it with a topical cream and told me to come back if it didn't go away.  Well ... it did fade ... but it didn't go away ... so I did see the dermatologist and he did biopsy the "thing."  The diagnosis (after a week's wait) was "benign thing" and he'll see me in a month.  What this "ordeal" did was make me so much more aware of what women and men waiting for the results of a biopsy ... then getting the news that it's malignant  ... go through.  I'm so lucky (knock wood.)  Just the words "possible low grade skin cancer" was pretty scary.
So ... for all those who haven't been as lucky ... I continue to walk.
And walk.
